“The Story Corner at Reading Legacies” Decks the Halls at Liberty Station

2025-12-20 —

This weekend, our community gathered for what can only be described as a bit of holiday magic! What began as a small, community event turned into a joyful celebration of togetherness, generosity, and the power of connection and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible turnout.

The response was overwhelming with a total of 35 families joining us, filling the space with laughter, conversation, and contagious holiday spirit. From the moment families arrived, it was a joy to watch children eagerly explore activities, while parents connected with one another, and the entire room buzzed with warmth and positivity.

Adding to the festive magic, we were able help kids start new home libraries or expand the ones they already cherish as 50 children’s books were carefully selected from our community resource library. Watching children light up as they chose books to take home was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Books open doors to imagination, learning, and opportunity, and we’re proud to support literacy and family connection in such a meaningful, hands-on way.

One of the highlights of the day was, Santa himself made a special appearance, bringing extra holiday cheer and plenty of smiles. For many families, this moment became a treasured memory: one that captured the spirit of the season and the joy of shared experiences. Santa was gracious enough to spend some time reading-aloud from some classic children’s books and what made this event truly special was this sense of connection. Families stayed, talked, laughed, and celebrated together. It reinforced our belief that supportive environments can have a big impact when they’re rooted in care, inclusion, and community engagement.

We’re already looking ahead with excitement and hope as 2026 brings new opportunities to grow, reach more families, and continue strengthening the bonds that make our county such a special place to live. As we reflect on the success of this year’s work, our mission remains clear: to facilitate positive relationships for children (during the holidays and all year long!) by reading together, building community, and strengthening families!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported this event. Together, we created something meaningful, and we can’t wait to do even more in the year ahead.
