A Successful Family Story Hour with Lauren Freckles - June 17, 2023

On June 17, 2023, Reading Legacies hosted a fun “Family Story Hour” at the North Promenade field in Liberty Station. Lauren Freckles, author of the Babbling Beth series, and Mango the Dog read to the children and families in attendance. Reading Legacies Board Member, Shaun Wiley, encouraged parents to read to their child(ren) as a way to enrich the parent-child relationship and to create lasting memories.

We are grateful for the volunteers from Honda Helpful Hands that helped this event run smoothly. Kathryn Johnson, library manager at the Logan Heights Branch, also in attendance, provided an interactive table with library resources for families to take home along with a free book provided by Reading Legacies.

We hope to have encouraged parents and caregivers to continue reading to children and we look forward to seeing all the families at our next Family Story Hour!

One of my favorite children’s books is If You Give A Mouse A Cookie by Laura Numeroff.
